Today is National Pizza Day and while there are plenty of places to get a pie or a slice we wanted to take the time to highlight some of the black owned places to support. From deep dish to thin, these pizzerias run the gamut. You will get a standard pie, to a gourmet creation by some of the best chefs. Here are 5 Black owned Pizza shops to hit up on National Pizza Day.
Slim and Huskys
Slim and Huskys has to be the first on my list because their pizzas are some of the best looking and they represent the new style of pizza chain. With the oblong shape and thin crust, these premium pies are the talk of Nashville, Atlanta and Sacramento, California where they have their locations. Also, you can get pizzas shipped directly to your door from them.
The Missing Brick
This Indianapolis Pizza place has a crust that looks like a mix between risen and artisan style. It is well regarded as one of the best place to get a pizza in the entire state.
The District
The District, in Providence, Rhode Island, is not just a pizza spot. Their menu is full of great looking eats that supplement their highly rated pies.
Pi Indy
Pi Indy is another entry on our list from Indianapolis. This pizza restaurant also features burgers and other limited dishes. Their pizzas feature great ingredients, and they also operate what i would call THE Food Truck of all food trucks. It features a glass fronted kitchen and a brick oven you have to see to believe.
Certified Pies
Certified Pies is the name of Arkansas’ first black owned pizza shop. But far from just being able to claim that, they have strong reviews for their selection and variety of pies.
